Claiming Moon || July Full Moon Prayer Grid

June 25 - July 10

We are grateful to Mabon House for the list of Celtic Full Moon names. We use these names because our family is Celtic & Danish, and because the traditional or First Nations moons have been anglicized. The true meanings behind their traditions belong to them.

We light up the grid space with a perpetual candle between the new moon and full moon at the White Light Express sacred altar, where we read your prayers in private, and sit in meditation for your highest and best outcome.

The July full moon was known to the ancient Celts as the Claiming Moon or Horse Moon. Claiming Moon is likely derived from some sort of early legal system, similar to August’s Dispute Moon. July is traditionally the warmest month of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and as such is a good time to relax, meditate and reflect on your life. It is also a good time to think about how you can bring more positive things into your life.
